Monday mornings can be the hardest part of the week for some people. When my kids were younger it didn’t matter what day of the week it was all the days were challenging. However as each of my kids entered into the school system the days became less challenging and instead now Monday mornings are the most challenging. I can remember when I was a kid the smell of coffee was always in our house since my dad is an avid coffee drinker and as a teenager I tried some of this magical bean juice that I had seen my dad enjoy. I can still remember the bitter nasty flavor it consumed my taste buds with, I couldn’t figure out why my dad would drink this disgusting liquid. Now that I am a mom that seems to have a never ending to do list and hear my name 100 times before 7am, I have discovered this magical bean juice can be life sustaining sometimes. So what changes from the teenage years to now?? Does having kids make bean juice suddenly taste good?? Probably not, in all reality it probably has something to do with getting older and have more mature tastebuds or something along those lines. However, as I sit here on a Monday morning drinking my coffee after a crazy morning of my older kids having a late start and my youngest not feeling well I realize that without my magical coffee giving me that extra motivation I would have already gone back to bed. Sometimes we as parents need to use every possible resource at our disposal and yes that includes coffee and sometimes wine (but that is a topic for a whole other post).
