For as long as i can remember I have always heard the saying that raising kids takes a village. Before I became a mom I don’t feel I fully understood exactly what this means. Growing up my siblings and I would go over to my aunts house and my cousins would come over to our house. As a kid I didn’t see how my mom and my aunt were each other’s villages. One of the best things I can do for my kids is show them that it is ok to ask for help and also that just because someone is family does not automatically mean that they are part of your village. The concept of having a village behind you doesn’t just apply to raising kids either. This concept can apply to everything in life. I have several villages in my life and without those people I can’t imagine how my life would be.
